Sheffield's Reusable Revolution
In the UK we use 7 million disposable coffee cups every day – that’s 2.5 billion every year, with only 1% recycled. And around 100+ million plastic cups are used every year at UK festivals and live events, and most of these are incinerated or sent to landfill.

What’s the solution? Reusables!
For every 1 million reusable event cups in regular use, 1000 tonnes of C02e emissions and 300 tonnes waste could be avoided.

Plastic Free Sheffield Central are thinking about purchasing reusable coffee cups, pint cups and containers in a war against waste.

The plan for coffee cups would be to set up a borrow/deposit return scheme where customers could pick up clean cups and drop used cups across Sheffield's cafes / or if at a market/event, drop off at drop-off points at the event.
And for events and markets, customers could pay a deposit for a pint cup/coffee cup and get their deposit back when they return the cups to collection points.
