Doctoral Working Group (DWG) has set up an entirely voluntary Buddy system to welcome and guide new PhD students, predocs and postdocs. The buddy system is there to help new colleagues to get started on our Bruges and Kulak campuses. Do you want help to find your way around campus? Do you want advice on housing arrangements in Bruges, Kortrijk or Gent? We understand how difficult it could be to arrive to a new place and we can help you in advance to connect and make new friends!

What can a buddy do? A buddy can offer:
- Help with administration (e.g. explaining university, government, bank, insurance documents often written in Dutch).
- Offer advice on a place to live.
- Help getting utilities (cell phone, internet, water …).
- Introduce you to the lively buddy community.
- Show you around campus or even the city if open to it.
A buddy does not give financial, material, medical, psychological nor legal help.
