Hawaii Children's Theatre Staff/Volunteer Form
At HCT we feel very lucky to attract the amazing and talented staff and volunteers we have! It definitely takes a village to put on these amazing programs and we love to work with teachers in the arts and artists and technicians who love to teach.Theater programs benefit youth in so many ways, including:

  • Acquiring “triple threat” theater skills (singing, dancing, acting) and technical skills related to theatre

Upcoming Hawaii Children's Theatre staffing and volunteer opportunities:

  • June - July
  • Tuition based program
  • Ages 5 - 15
  • Monday - Friday (AM Program: 8 am - 12 pm, PM program: 1 pm - 5 pm)
  • Needs: Directors, Music Directors, Choreographers, Workshop Teachers, Costume Designers, Set Designers/Builders, Stage Managers, Lighting Design/Operators, Sound Design/Operators, volunteers of all kinds
  • Performs at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall
Theatre Academy
  • Course length varies from one weekend to an 8-week program with an end performance.
  • Tuition-based program
  • Ages 8 - 15
  • This program relies on instructors who are interested in teaching a 1-8 week series one day a week on the weekends, or 1 class during a full weekend.
  • Needs: Directors/Teachers, Committee Members, Volunteers
Fall Show
  • August - November
  • Audition-based program
  • Ages 8+
  • Needs: Directors, Music Directors, Choreographers, Costume Designers, Set Designers/Builders, Stage Managers, Lighting Design/Operators, Sound Design/Operators, volunteers of all kinds
  • Performs at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall
After Dark
  • May - August
  • Audition-based program
  • Ages 15+
  • Needs: Directors, Music Directors, Costume Designers, Set Designers/Builders, Stage Managers, Lighting Design/Operators, Sound Design/Operators, volunteers of all kinds
  • Performs at the Puhi Theatrical Warehouse black box theater
MessEdge Theatre
  • Course length varies depending on instructor availability (generally spring or fall).
  • Audition-based program
  • Ages 13+
  • Theater program designed to tackle and present difficult subjects facing youth today.
  • Needs: Directors/Creative Staff, Committee Members
  • Performs at schools and at the Puhi Theatrical Warehouse.
Technical and Creative staff
  • For all shows
  • Technical or design knowledge preferred, but we will train!
  • Needs: Costume Designers, Sewists, Crafters, Painters, Set Construction & Design, Lighting Design/Operation, Sound Design/Operation, volunteers who would like to learn these skills
HCT Board and Committees/Volunteering
  • HCT is volunteer-driven with parents and community members passionate about the theater arts and its benefits to kids and youth. 
  • From cleanups and set building, costume shop, lighting and sound, to planning, publicity, fundraising and backstage at shows… Many hands make light work!
