Supporting documentation is required for each reason. Please send the supporting documentation to regresidency@oakland.edu

• A clear copy of your high school diploma or high school transcript (applies to the high school completion reason only)
• A clear copy of your or your parent/guardian's lease agreement/home deed
• A clear copy of your MI identification and if applicable a copy of your passport or visa
• A letter from the employer of the student or parent/guardian's employer that verifies the following:
       o Full-time, permanent status (CPT/OPT does not qualify)
       o Position title
       o When the Michigan employment began (start date)
       o Note: If the letter of employment if from the parent/guardian’s employer a copy of the student’s birth certificate or certificate of adoption is required
• For non-citizens of the US, the status of any application for permanent residency • Documentation of the Michigan home residence (lease or home purchase agreement).
       o A copy of the student’s marriage certificate will be required when the student’s name does not appear on the residence document and the student is applying on the basis of dependence on a spouse who can demonstrate permanent Michigan residence.
• Veterans must have already self-identified with the Veteran Support Services Office or must submit a copy of the DD-214 “Certificate of Release of Discharge from Active Duty” or LES (Leave and Earnings Statement)
• For international students, a copy of the current visa or green card
       o For international students applying as dependents of a spouse or parent who can demonstrate permanent Michigan residence, a copy of the visa or green card of the spouse or family member is also required.
       o Please, note: per University policy as recorded in the Undergraduate catalog: “the only aliens eligible for consideration for classification as a resident are those who are on a visa other than a student visa (F or J)”.
• Note: Applicants also are responsible for providing any other documentation that may be required by the University to support their claim to resident eligibility.
