The NYS Dignity Act (DASA) took effect on July 1, 2012. New York State’s Dignity for All Students Act seeks to provide the State’s public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function. One of the leading causes of bullying and harassment in school is the use of social media. Please refer to the cell phone usage procedures in the student handbook for additional information. To better understand circumstances that are protected by the Dignity Act, you may refer to www.onguardonline.gov  and/or page 34 in the student handbook.

Student Agreement: I reviewed the NYS Dignity Act as outlined on page 34 of the student handbook. Furthermore, I understand that a student’s online actions may be monitored and any behavior that can be characterized as intimidating, taunting, discriminatory, or bullying may, under the Dignity Act, have serious consequences both at school and perhaps with law enforcement officials. PLEASE COMPLETE THIS BY Friday, SEPTEMBER 9th.
