Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Murrays Bay Primary School is dedicated to giving our students innovative and creative opportunities to learn. We understand that we learn in many different ways and from many different people. During Term 3 our entire school will be participating in different passion projects for an entire week. Your child has chosen their passion and will participate in a week of learning and growing in their chosen area. This is a fantastic opportunity for different ages of students to work together and learn from each other, while possibly working with different teachers too!
 
Your child has chosen Cake Decorating as their Passion Project and will participate in a 3 day, hands on learning experience from Tuesday, 31 August - Thursday, 02 September. This is a great opportunity for different students to work together and learn from each other while having fun!

Throughout the week we will be learning about how to decorate cakes and cupcakes using different forms of icing. The students will get the opportunity to plan their designs with their groups, practice moulding and creating, and put together their final design onto their cakes and cupcakes. They will also have a talk and demonstration from a professional cake decorator who owns her own business. There will be a lot of preparation and creative thinking and a chance to taste test. It is going to be a yummy few days!

As we are making icing, your child will be in contact with ingredients such as butter, icing, and milk. We will be using pre-made cakes and cupcakes from ‘Pak n Save’ (which may contain traces of nuts). If your child has an allergy to a food product (we do not have a gluten free option) and you are concerned about them being in this group, please feel free to contact: natasha@murraysbay.school.nz

Students will need the following:
1. A device (if your child has one)
2. An Apron, to protect uniforms as we will be working with food colouring
3. A container for their cupcakes


COST
The cost for the 3 days is $15.00. This MUST be paid before Friday, 27 August 2021.
This will cover the cost for all ingredients.

Online Payment is preferred.
Using your child's name, Year Level and Teachers Initials & the chosen Passion Project as reference
