Kickstart Scheme Application
Hi! This is a quick application for the Kickstart Scheme where the government will help you hire young people to work for your business.

The scheme will pay for their wages and national insurance for 25hrs per week and 6 months at minimum wage. As part of the scheme, you'll also receive a £1500 setup grant per employee to help you cover the costs of training, computers, etc. You can hire more than one person too.

The roles must be new (ie you can't fire someone and rehire through the scheme) and you must commit to provide training and up-skilling opportunities for the young people.

As a small business, unless you can hire 30 roles, you're not able to apply on your own. Luckily, we have been accepted as a Gateway provider, and you can apply via us.

Other agencies are charging businesses an admin fee but we will NOT charge you any fees - we're a small business too! If you apply with us, you will receive your £1500 setup grant in full (most agencies are deducting their fees from this).

What's your Ltd company name? *
Please note your company must be registered as a limited company or charity on Companies House. This is a requirement of the scheme.
What's your full name? *
You must be one of the Directors of the company on Companies House.
What's your Companies House number? *
What's the company's registered address? *
What's your postcode? *
What's your contact address? If different from above
What's your email? *
What's your telephone number? *
How many people do you currently hire?
How many roles would you like to hire through the scheme? *
Please note that these roles must be new and only possible thanks to the grant funding of the scheme (ie you wouldn't otherwise be able to hire them and you're not already advertising for the role). You will also need to enrol the person(s) in your PAYE.
Can you confirm that the roles are new, not replacing existing or planned jobs and not causing existing employees or contractors to lose their jobs? *
Do you commit to providing employability support to young people? This includes helping with CV building, setting goals and/or improving skills such as timekeeping, teamwork, communication and work ethic? *
What roles will you be hiring for? *
Please list the titles of all the jobs you want to hire via the scheme.
Do you have job descriptions for these roles? *
This is not mandatory at this stage but will be required for stage two. The quicker we receive the job descriptions, the quicker we can get the jobs filled. If you already have yours, please feel free to email them to jess@gokickstart.co.uk
How many employees do you currently have on payroll at the moment? Please include yourself if you're on payroll. *
When did you incorporate your business on Companies House? *It seems like DWP are favouring businesses that have been running for over 12 months. If you've been running for less than 12 months, it doesn't mean that your business will be rejected, but it will make it a bit harder. This is a new rule they've introduced recently. If you don't remember, this information is available on Companies House website. *

In the past 6 months, have you had any large scale recruitment drives (ie hired lots of people), have made any redundancies or have reduced the number of working hours of your employees? *
If yes, please share more information on this. This might affect the eligibility of your company for the funding.
Do you already employ people with the same Job Title as the ones you're hiring via this scheme? *If you already have people on payroll with the exact same job title, they won't be counted as unique roles and won't be eligible for the funding. Please also remember that you're more likely to hire 'JUNIOR', 'ASSISTANT' and 'INTERN' positions for these roles. The job titles that you submitted in this first form are not set in stone, and I'm happy for you to change the titles.

Are these roles unique and only viable thanks to the Kickstart scheme? *Roles are NOT considered unique if 1) you have already been advertising for these roles, 2) you would've hired for these roles even if you didn't get the funding OR 3) you already employ people doing these same roles. If the roles aren't unique, they are not eligible for the funding.

Please explain in your own words how these roles are new and unique to the Kickstart scheme. A few sentences only is enough! *
Have you been in conversations with trade unions about making some of your staff redundant? *
Are these roles CORE roles to your business? ie your business would *not* be able to run without them. *Sadly, core roles are not eligible for this funding. *
Are you committed to providing employability support to the Kickstarters, including help with CV writing, interview prep, organizational + communicational skills etc? *
Once you hire them, are you happy to check-in with them in regards to their roles and their performance on an ongoing basis? We would recommend checking in on weeks 1, 2 and 3, and then monthly thereafter and ad-hoc when needed? *
Are you happy for me, as the Kickstart Gateway, to act as a Wellbeing Support for the Kickstarters? This means that if they have feedback about the roles, they feel unsafe at work or their wellbeing is at risk, they can contact me directly as a neutral party. *
Can you nominate one person as being responsible for the management and support of this Kickstart role(s)? Please share their name (this can be yourself of course) *
Is there anything else you think I should know about in regards to your application?
