Parental Engagement Programme Research and Innovation Work Group 2020-2021
The EMW Maths Hub have teamed up with the Derby Research School and the SHINE Trust to support schools in running ‘Maths Masterclasses’ for parents. The programme has already been tested and has been proved to help a number of parents develop their understanding of how their children learn number in school so that they feel able to effectively support their children with maths in the home. The programme content explores the progression of number from the Foundation Stage to Year 6 and will touch on everything from the structures within the four operations to the key ideas surrounding fractions.
On completion of the programme, parents will receive a certification endorsed by the University of Derby and will take away a pack of manipulatives to enable them to replicate classroom practice in the home.
