Student Health Volunteers for 2023 Fieldays

Tēnā koutou!

Thank you for registering your interest to join the volunteer team of Health Navigators at this years Mystery Creek Fieldays.

The event runs from Wednesday 14th to Saturday 17th of June.  It’s a full day of experiences starting at 8am and ending at 5pm.

Students who have worked with us before have thoroughly enjoyed their time, noting that the Hub operates as a fun and vibrant environment for all.

Some information that might be helpful to you:

  • Your admission to the Fieldays is free.
  • The Hub operates from 8am - 5pm, but the day peaks between 10am and 2pm.

  • Breakfast is provided in our Hub from 6.30am.

  • Lunch is also provided.

  • You will receive your roster each day and a briefing of your tasks before the gates open.

  • We will have a doctor, nurse practitioner or nurse working with our team - they will give you the briefing before you start your day and will be available to help you at all times.

  • When you are not rostered on, you can spend time looking around the event.

  • You are welcome to attend as many days as you can. Whether one day or all four, please highlight which days you can attend.

  • Traffic and parking serve as one of the main difficulties with the Fieldays. Please consider this when planning your travel if you only want to do a part day with us.

  • A contribution to petrol costs may be available.

  • If you can't drive to Mystery Creek, there will be some transport from Hamilton City for the Fieldays at around 6.15am and return at around 6.30pm.

  • We will also need to carpool together as the car parks will be congested, so make sure we know if you can team up with a friend to come together.

  • Fieldays is a VERY popular event, meaning accommodation is hard to book in the area. Ideally, we are mainly looking for students who live in the area or know someone with whom they could stay. We have a few camp cabins booked for students, but as there are only a few beds, this will be a first-in, first-served option.

If you can see yourself as a Health Navigator, fill out the form below.

Nest steps:

We will let you know if you have been successful with your application. Rosters will be drawn up and shared with you as soon as we can.

If you have been successful, we will invite you to join us for a webinar where we can give you background on the event, how your day might look as a Health Navigator and answer any of your questions.

Once we see how much interest we have, we will set up rosters to cover all four days, hold a webinar to talk about this with you and provide you with more information as the time gets nearer.

If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, contact: samantha.hill@htrhn.org.nz

Please let us know your interest before 26th May.
