Bicycle and Scooter Use Application (4th and 5th Grade)
In order for students to ride a bicycle/scooter to and from school, the following bicycle safety rules apply for the student’s safety and the safety of others:
1. Bicycle helmets, properly fitted and fastened, must be worn consistently to and from school.
2. Riders will observe safety laws and rules at all times.
3. Riders will display courteous behavior toward other riders, pedestrians and motor vehicles.
4. Students will not ride bicycles/scooters on campus. Riders are to dismount the bicyclescooter at the gate and walk it to the bicycle rack.
5. Students must provide their own locks and are solely responsible for securing the lock. The District assumes no liability for lost, stolen or damaged property.
6. The first offense for not following the rules will result in a verbal warning. The second offense will result in having the bike/scooter confiscated and the parent/guardian will be required to pick it up.

I assume full and total responsibility for my child’s safety and agree to hold the school site and Val Verde Unified School District harmless for any injuries or damages resulting from any action associated with my student riding his/her bicycle to and from school. I agree the School Site and/or Val Verde Unified School District are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged bicycles; and the School and/or District assumes no liability when students are not on school property. I have reviewed the bicycle safety rules above with my student. *
