Are you trying to find local farmers? Is your school nutrition department interested in making new connections to purchase local foods from farmers and producers in your area? Join us when we come to your area of Minnesota for a Farm to School Networking Event and Workshop. Space is limited so register early!
2:00-2:15 PM: School Registration and Check-In
2:15-3:15 PM: Facilitated Buyer and Farmer Networking
The networking process works like this – a room is filled with buyers interested in buying local foods and farmers interested in selling to them. It’s like an informal exhibit hall with local producers. Farmers and buyers each connect one-on-one about what they’re interested in buying and what they grow and produce. Contact information is shared to follow up with each other. And then the process happens again with the next farmer. These conversations move along quickly! It’s a getting-to-know-you exercise, with a plan to follow up with each other later on. Bring your business cards!
3:30-4:30 PM: Farm to School Training and Workshop for School Nutrition
The Farm to School Training and Workshop for School Nutrition professionals will include tips and tricks for menu planning, drafting specifications and procurement methods, food safety and local food regulations information, and examples of connecting the cafeteria, classroom and community!
