USD 379 Test to Learn and Play Guidelines
August 30th, 2022

Dear parents and guardians,

Moving forward there will be a stronger focus on individual responsibility for testing and, when a person tests positive, for notifying the school and/or their close contacts about potential exposure.  The school will not conduct contact tracing.

1.  Household contacts may come to work/school & wear a mask for 10 days after their last exposure.

2. Household contacts may come to work/school without a mask as long as they test every other day (we prefer daily).  If they have 3 negative tests with at least one on or after day 5 they do not need to worry about masking or testing again unless they become symptomatic.
3.  A positive case can return to work or school on day 6 & mask through day 10 as long as their symptoms have improved & they have been fever free for at least 24 hours.
4.  A positive case does not necessarily have to have a negative test to return to work, but can if they have 2 consecutive negative tests 48 hour apart they do not need to mask thru day 10.

Be mindful if the positive is still testing positive after day 5 there is a chance that they can still spread disease so masking is important. CDC is saying that these new variants are very contagious, but symptoms may not be as severe as Delta etc.  It is appearing these variants are able to evade our immunities. Even if you have been vaccinated or had previous disease you should still closely monitor.

Testing does not necessarily need to happen through us in the mornings.  We are accepting home tests. We will continue to offer testing on school days and as long as supplies are available.
