Worship and Ministry Survey: Returning to “In-person” Meetings for Worship at Friends Center
Friends Center has notified CPMM that they “…can open on Sundays once you want to return to regular worship with an in-person component.”  Friends Center has now installed AV equipment in our large meeting for worship room, so that holding a “hybrid” meeting for worship in which some are on a Zoom call and able to see and hear worshipers in the meeting room, and those worshiping in the meeting room can see and hear other worshipers who are participating via Zoom, should be possible.

We do not know how well such a hybrid meeting for worship will work, particularly in our very large meeting room.  But Worship and Ministry does believe that we should NOT simply stop holding meetings for worship on Zoom when it becomes possible to return to in-person meetings for worship at Friends Center.

Rather, we believe that we should continue holding Zoom meetings for worship for people who don’t feel safe worshiping together in person, for those who live at such a distance, or with a mobility impairment, that makes it impossible or difficult to come to the meeting house for meeting, and for those who simply prefer holding worship together via Zoom.

If the meeting agrees with this, then we have two choices:
1. Hold two separate meetings for worship each week, not necessarily at the same time:  one in person, and one on Zoom
2. Hold a single “hybrid” meeting for worship on Sunday mornings, as described above.

With all this in mind, the Worship and Ministry Committee seeks to get a sense of how members and attenders of CPMM are feeling and thinking about some important questions at this time.  The results of this poll will help us in formulating a proposal of  how to move forward.  The question of when and how to resume in person worship will be brought to CPMM’s meeting for worship with attention to business for worshipful consideration and a sense of the meeting as a whole for decision.

We would like to encourage everyone to complete and return this poll by 5:00 PM Wednesday, June 9.  That will give us time to review and tabulate the responses in case the clerk decides to include some time on the agenda of our June 13th meeting for business for an initial discussion of this matter.
