How does the pilot work? It's easy:
1. Sign up (coming soon) and save your food scraps. (We'll provide a list of allowed items.) > Drop off at the ReWild EcoTable at the Springs Farmers Market on Saturdays, July 15 - September 16, 9am-1pm. There may also be a LIMITED drop-off possibility in Sag Harbor -- stay turned for that info.
2. We'll weigh, QC and deliver your scraps to the East Hampton Recycling Center where they'll be transformed into compost. (Recycling at the dump is great, but note that they do not accept food scraps.)
3. The compost will help local farmers grow more vegetables for us to eat. More vegetables mean more food scraps that get turned into more compost and more vegetables and... It's a delicious cycle and we hope you'll join us in completing the loop.
Why do we want your peels? Find out in the 6 quick questions below.
Want to participate, volunteer or just learn more about the community food scrap to compost pilot? Fill in the 3-minute survey below. The pilot still has a few moving parts and your answers will help make participation easier for you and the program itself more successful.
