CalArts Creates at LAPL: Summer '22 Workshop Registration!
This fall program is presented by a partnership between the CalArts Community Arts Partnership (CAP) and the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL). CAP is a program of California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), and offers free after-school and school-based arts programs for youth in every discipline taught at the Institute. We invite you to sign up for the CalArts Creates at LAPL Summer Workshops! Sign up for a four-week workshop in either Zine-Making or Digital Music taught by CalArts alumni and students! Eligible participants must reside in LA County and be a current student between the ages of 12 and 18. Past experience is not required.

PLEASE APPLY BY JUNE 21. SOME STUDENTS MAY BE PLACED ON THE WAITLIST. YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED OF YOUR ENROLLMENT STATUS AND EMAILED CLASS DETAILS BY JUNE 28 AT THE LATEST.

All class meetings will take place in person at:
Los Angeles Central Library
630 W 5th St, Los Angeles, CA 90071
Classes are free. Classroom art supplies will be available for every student.

Workshop 1: Digital Music Composition
Some of the topics that will be covered in this workshop are using music production software, using midi keyboards, song structure, creating simple melodies and drum patterns, audio recording, and more.

Workshop 2: Zine-making
Some of the topics that will be covered in this workshop are image creation, creative writing, comics, worrld-building, narrative structure, printing and copying techniques, zine binding techniques, and more.
