The Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions (ASAHP) is dedicated to promoting dialogue between academic institutions and their health care industry partners to improve collaboration and enhance health outcomes. Yearly ASAHP Summits bring together leaders, faculty and providers in-person concurrently at member institution “hubs” which culminate in a virtual “harvest” session between hub participants who engage in a national-level conversation.
Interprofessional core competencies provide a shared framework for the development and assessment of interprofessional learning experiences. However, in many situations, these learning experiences largely occur in didactic and classroom settings. There is a call to embed and assess these core competencies in more authentic clinical practice environments.
As a member of the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC), ASAHP was actively engaged in the development of Version 3 of the IPEC Core Competencies in 2023. The 2024 ASAHP Summit will focus on engaging academic institutions with healthcare industry partners to operationalize these competencies in clinical practice for improved healthcare professional readiness to improve health outcomes.

- Orlando, FL, Hub: University of Central Florida
- Birmingham, AL Hub: University of Alabama at Birmingham
- Sioux Falls, SD, Hub: University of South Dakota
