APRU Certificate in Global Climate Change Leadership Short Course Registration Form fr

Nagoya University is assembling a team for the APRU Certificate in Global Climate Change Leadership Short Course, held online in April–May 2025.

The APRU Certificate in Global Climate Change Leadership is a dynamic role-playing exercise in which students join multi-country, multidisciplinary teams to act as delegates in UN Climate Change Negotiations. The course is similar in format to Model United Nations simulations. Participants will be grouped into international teams representing one of six countries/regions. Over 4 rounds of discussions and negotiations, students will engage in conversations led by international experts in climate science.

The course explores climate change from diverse perspectives, including environmental, economic, and diplomatic angles. We strongly encourage students from various majors to participate!

The short course includes 10 hours of live sessions. Between these sessions, students are expected to complete independent assignments and collaborate on group projects. Also, since the course is mostly group-work excercise, it is important that all participants can join on all 4 days of negotiations.

This program is hosted by the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), the University of Southern California and the University of Oregon, bringing together participants from 20 universities across the Pacific Rim. It is particularly valuable for students interested in careers in international relations, policymaking, or climate action. Participants will enhance their teamwork skills, gain global perspectives, and build their professional networks. Completing this course will be a strong addition to your professional portfolio!
