Safe Guide training is required by all Guiders within 6 months of their join date…
This training will show you how to navigate Safe Guide for a year of fun, safe activities! Safe Guide is a valuable resource with a friendly hands-on approach to managing risk. Packed with great information and tips, we will cover everything from minimum supervision and ratios, Emergency Response Plans and clothing lists…with an emphasis on fun activities and outdoor adventure. Preparedness starts with careful planning, communication and documentation. All activities have some degree of risk. Safe Guide provides a step-by-step process to help you identify and manage risk.

Safe Guide supports Guiders as they offer girls opportunities that will help them be confident and resourceful. Through many hands-on activities, camps and events, girls can have fun, learn, lead and be inspired to challenge themselves…all while staying safe.

This year’s courses are offered by St. John Ambulance at their Mountain Highway location…

In addition to the regular program offered, we have requested that the trainings be tailored for skills that could possibly be needed for all sorts of outdoor fun and adventure (eg. hikes, camps, burns, slips & falls, ticks etc.)

EMERGENCY FIRST AID – Community Care (1 day)
• 3 year certificate
• required by many Yellow Level Activities (sleepovers, camps)
• includes CPR for children and adults
**PATHFINDERS course** Must be at least 14 years of age

STANDARD FIRST AID (2 days)
• 3 year certificate
• required for Red Level Activities (EMS response time less than 4hrs)
• includes CPR for infants, children and adults

This training opportunity is perfect for both new and experienced Unit & District Treasurers…

We will cover everything you need to know to be confident in your ‘Treasurer’ position including…
- your role (Unit &/or District)
- review of financial record keeping basics
- the importance of budgets!
- GST posting on camping fees & events
- tips and tricks to keep track of cookies and get paid on time
- how to record, report & claim GST rebates
- Children’s Art tax credit
- how to deal with the banks
- how clear and concise communication skills can get you what you want
