2023 Community Consultant Application

Thank you for your interest in the Community Consultant program! This program matches community members with City projects related to Our Climate Future (OCF), a plan and framework for climate action in Fort Collins.  Community Consultants are compensated $25 per hour, up to $1,000 total.


We encourage all those who are interested to apply. This program is designed as an opportunity for the City organization to learn from community members based on their unique lived experiences and perspectives. You do not need any technical background to be a Community Consultant. Staff will use the following criteria to select consultants and match them to projects: 

  • Relationship and connection to underrepresented communities identified in the OCF Plan*; ability and willingness to be a community liaison  

  • Experience advancing environmental justice / commitment to environmental justice

  • Live, work, or study in Fort Collins  

  • English speaking and writing proficiency (depending on project - not expected for Neighborhood Services Equity Scan)

  • Able to commit to 20-40 hours throughout project 

  • Willing to complete a W-9 form for tax purposes 

*Communities identified in OCF as underrepresented in climate action and local government (though not limited to): 

  • Communities of Color 

  • Community members under age 29 

  • DACA students 

  • LGBTQIA+ Communities

  • Local Native American and Indigenous Communities 

  • Migrant Communities 

  • Disability Community 

  • Veterans 

  • Religious minorities 

  • People experiencing homelessness 

  • People living in manufactured homes 

  • Commuter communities 

  • Low-income communities 

  • Small businesses
