Warrior Within Yoga Project, Inc. is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization based in Massachusetts bringing yoga to veteran and first responder communities across the state.

Our mission is to equip veterans, service members and first responders with the tools and training to manage stress, increase resiliency and promote post-traumatic growth. Through yoga we build community, reignite bonds and provide a space for warriors to heal from invisible wounds shoulder to shoulder.

Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Natick, we offer free weekly trauma-informed yoga classes that are exclusive to veterans, service members, first responders and their family members in multiple Massachusetts locations. 

With plans to expand operations, we are seeking passionate and committed yoga instructors who want to bring the power of yoga to those who serve.

Job Title: Veteran Yoga Instructor

Description:

Are you a yoga instructor who wants to make an impact through teaching? Do you have a connection to or passion for supporting veterans and first responders? Warrior Within Yoga Project is building a team of well-trained and well-compensated instructors to provide trauma-informed yoga to veteran and first responder communities across the state.

This fall, with grant money recently made available, we will be piloting multi-week series in a number of towns in Metrowest. To this end, we are looking to hire 3-4 instructors to our team.

The classes you instruct will provide our Warriors with tools for learning how to self-regulate through breath-work and mindful movement. Over time these practical practices will increase resiliency.

30 hours of specialized training focused on working with veterans using evidence-based techniques and trauma-informed protocols will be provided and required*.

Ideally, Yoga Instructors will live close to where they will be assigned to teach and commit to a weekly, reoccurring, schedule.

There is some flexibility for the schedule; classes could be daytime, weeknight M-Thur starting between 5:30pm-6:30pm or on a weekend morning depending on the pilot.

The person hired will be asked to teach one weekly class and on occasion, provide additional availability once every 1-2 months to teach a weekend fundraising class to the public.

What we are looking for:

  • Someone who has a genuine passion for supporting veterans, first responders and their families
  • Is relatable, present and professional; becoming a bridge between the yoga and military community
  • Can confidently adjust their class plans based on who shows up to class
  • A life-long learner who can apply the skillsets they have now, but is open to continued learning
  • Is an excellent communicator and team player who will be involved and engaged with Warrior Within Yoga Project
  • Is available to take on a long-term reoccurring weekly/monthly class if needed

Job Duties:

  • Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to scheduled class
  • Set up yoga mats and props (as needed)
  • Check in and register every guest with our booking app
  • Instruct 60 minute yoga class
  • Clean up space after class (put away props as needed)
  • Report any feedback or updates to Executive Director
  • Meet virtually with Executive Director for monthly check-ins
Qualifications
  • Minimum RYT200 yoga teacher training or comparable
  • Minimum of two consecutive years teaching group yoga classes (from time of receiving training certificate).
  • Experience teaching chair yoga or trauma-informed yoga is a bonus
  • Reliable transportation to class location
  • *Once hired, be willing and able to take and complete 30 hour self-paced training within 1 month (must be completed on own, unpaid time) (*exceptions for training requirements may be made for instructors with considerable trauma-informed training, experience working with veterans or other relevant experience).

Compensation:

Expected pay per 60-minute class ranges between $30-$50 and will be based on experience..
