An open letter to RCGP UK Council calling for voting transparency and accountability
Dear RCGP UK Council,
We commend the College for opposing the role of Physician Associates in general practice. Nevertheless, it is time to embrace transparency and accountability. The current backward and elusive practice of hidden ballots breeds suspicion and it is an unacceptable disservice to members.
Institutions like the British Medical Association and the UK Parliament have long recognised the importance of transparent voting. They understand it is essential for building trust, fostering engagement, and ensuring representation.
Hence, we call on the RCGP to abolish their use of hidden ballots and adopt a transparent voting process. The College needs to demonstrate that it values transparency and accountability.
Sincerely,
