The object of this course is to introduce the students to the design methodology based
on the components reliability, with a focus on the standards (Eurocodes) used for
design some specific mechanical components. The main topics are:
1) Define the reliability (loads and materials analysis, failure mechanisms, ecc.).
2) Define the safety factor concept.
3) Introduction to the standards.
4) Application to design and verification to different components: the main arms
of the telescopic crane (analytical and numerical analyses); hydraulic cylinder; chassis
of industrial vehicles, ecc.
