Friends of Tokai Park is hosting an international Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) Make a Difference (MAD) week event in the Prinskasteel Wetland, Lower Tokai Park which is part of Table Mountain National Park, South Africa. The MAD Week is a week of Global Restoration Action Hosted by the Society for Ecological Restoration, held from 4-11 June 2022.
We have planned a planting event which aims to restore a wetland in critically endangered lowland fynbos in Cape Town. The aim of the event is to demonstrate the importance of restoration, and create an opportunity for Capetonians to get involved in the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
Our event will be led by our 12 fantastic interns, who have been involved in the organising and marketing, and will assist the public on the day. Our interns are supported by our Friends of Tokai Park IUCN Save Our Species project at Tokai Park.
People are invited to sign-up and select the number of plants they wish to sponsor. Our MAD event will kick off with a guided walk through the restoration trail at Tokai Park, followed by a demo on restoration planting and the unique species to be planted. After this, people will have the opportunity to plant their sponsored plants!
