Join Suburban ChiTribe for a night out at the movies! The 19th annual Chicago Festival of Israeli Cinema is hosting a live screening of the documentary
Generation 1.5.
The Massive Aliyah of over one million people from the former Soviet Union during the 1990s has left an indelible mark on Israeli society--especially in high tech, medicine, sports and the arts. However their absorption was not without challenges, sacrifices and discrimination. Three decades later, the film captures the profound perspectives of "Generation 1.5": those who were born in the USSR and immigrated to Israel as children or teenagers. This screening includes a Q&A with local members of Generation 1.5.
