Carmel Rugby Club - Parent Pledge

I will always remember, young people are involved in rugby for their enjoyment, not mine.
I will always encourage my child to play by the Laws of the Game.
I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or his/her performance.
I will set an example for my child by Honoring the Game and will encourage him/her to remember ROOTS—respect for the Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates, and Self. If the official makes a "bad" call against my team, I will Honor the Game and be silent!
I will praise my child for competing fairly and trying hard, and make my child feel like a winner every time.
As a spectator, I will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent including the opposing team parents such as booing and taunting; refusing to shake hands; or using profane language or gestures. I will respect and cooperate with coaches, officials, team members, opponents, and spectators at all times. Sportsmanship is the foundation of Carmel Rugby Club.
I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am one of the official coaches of the team.
I will refrain from making negative comments about my child's coach in my child's presence. I understand that this will help to avoid planting negative seeds in my child's head that can negatively influence my child's motivation and overall experience.
I will teach my child to be a good teammate, to support others who are new to the game, and that unsportsmanlike and/or bullying behavior is never acceptable.
I will teach my child to respect and abide by the core values of Carmel Rugby Club.
I will not permit my child and pledge to monitor them to ensure they do not engage in illegal drug, tobacco, alcohol use or other reckless behavior that would compromise the player, the team, our Club, Carmel High School, or affiliated High School if the player is a non-Carmel student.
I understand and acknowledge any player involved in an alcohol or illegal substance, found, used, under the influence will be dismissed from the team.  Carmel-Clay HS Athletic Department may also be notified which under IHSAA guidelines results in a 1 year suspension of any high school sports activities.
