Balan Gopal is an urban farmer who has expertise in turning junk into treasure. Featured by The Straits Times and Home and Decor magazine, the father of two has inspired many fellow Singaporeans living in apartments with his elevated garden of herbs and vegetables growing out of recycled soft drink bottles and repurposed containers.

𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀:
For beginners and anyone who is interested to know how to grow vegetables and herbs at home.

The workshop provides an overview of how making, growing and consuming CLEAN foods can improve our well-being. It also relates and reminds us of our roles and the choices we make that impacts climate change and food sustainability.

Participants get to try their hand at growing their own greens and learn to make probiotic drinks such as Yoghurt, which is good for gut bacteria, and what organic/natural products are recommended for growing.

• An introduction to the types of herbs and leafy vegetables that are easy to grow in Singapore
• How to propagate herbs and leafy vegetables, and stem cutting techniques
• How to grow your own microgreens
• Plant care – from seed to harvest
• Media and soil mixes  
• Composting with earthworms
• Composting and the use of organic matter to make your own organic fertilisers
• Organic/natural plant feeds and treatments you can make and buy
• Why and how to grow clean food in small spaces
• How to use recycled and re-purposed containers to create your own vertical farm

Hands-on: Participants will make their own Herb in a Cup Propagation Kit, and keep their fresh herb cuttings to grow
