Astrophile India is committed to bring in more and more research opportunities for the students of Indian school system to get involved, learn and create opportunities for research oriented career. The Astrophile - International Asteroid Search Campaign is a step in this direction.
The students who participate in this program will be able to work with some of the most advanced telescopes in the world aiming at the stars with only one ideology - to discover the smallest possible rock in the solar system. With the abundance of data collected through wide network of telescopes around the world, the astronomers and their systems are over-burdened with the detection process. Hence the opportunity is passed on to the students to help and support them. The students in this process gain access to the latest data leading to the scientific discoveries, work with most sophisticated equipment in the world, works with most technical minds of this fields and also learn and understand the process and methodology of the research work to be carried out.
In this project, the participating students will learn about the importance of the research work, how the research work is carried out and how they can contribute in this task. They will also receive latest updated data to analyse. Once pointing a previously unknown object, the students will get the credit if the identified object is proved to be an asteroid.
An online video will be uploaded on our youtube channel for students to go through it and learn about how to work on it. Our team will be available for one-on-one session with the teams participating in this amazing opportunities.
The registration charges are Rs 1,500/- +18% GST ( Rs 1,770/-) per team. The amount is payable in case students need training on the software. Payment shall me made on the accounts details below:
