How does play (recreation, leisure, amusement) impact our lives and livelihood?
Love Now Media is celebrating the art of play (gaming, music, sports, creativity, leisure) as it relates to the lived experiences of Black and Indigenous communities. How does play impact our perception and experience of life, work, and wellness? How have policies impacted the prioritization and value of play specifically among Black and Indigenous communities? What does all this mean for community members' joy, mental health, wellness, economics, education, and time ownership?
As part of this year's programmatic theme, The Politics of Play, we are seeking story submissions that explore or answer any of the following questions:
How has rest or recreation helped you navigate the pandemic?
When did you first feel like it was time to “grow up”?
How do you define and prioritize your joy?
How do you prioritize and practice rest?
What is one form of play that you enjoy and why?
What would your younger self remind you about the importance of playtime?
How would having more joy in life impact the way you work?
How do politics affect the activities that nurture your joy?
How can society improve how we prioritize the art of play or joy?
How does race affect the way that joy or play is experienced?
Do you believe money affects the quality of and/or access to mental health support? Why or why not?
Submit your story and it may be featured in our next publication. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, August 30th at 11:59 pm.
