Dance Team Risk Statement *
Dance Team, as with any sport, has some risk involved.  Even though coaches do all they can to minimize these risks, injuries can happen.  These injuries can range from bumps, bruises, and over stretched muscles to catastrophic injuries resulting in paralysis and/or death.  To minimize these risks follow these guidelines: 1. Never try a turn, jump, leap, kick, or trick without having first been instructed in proper technique.  2. Do not attempt the next level of a trick before mastering the one prior.  3. Prior to dancing, check your surroundings to ensure that the floor is clean, obstacles are clear, and that you will not run into another dancer.4.  Participate with regular stretching and conditioning. 5.  Wear proper dance shoes that are in good condition.  6. Report EVERY injury -no matter how slight- to the coach immediately.7. Universal Precautions:  To minimize the risk of the transmission of the HIV virus, no one shall touch any other dancer that is bleeding or has blood on them, without proper protective equipment.  Any dancer that is wearing a costume or clothing that is blood splattered will not be allowed to return to practice or performance/competition until the blood has been cleaned off or has changed.

Attendance Policy *
Regular attendance at practices and performances is an essential part of being a member of the dance team.  Attendance is important in order to learn and grow as a dancer, to help prevent injuries with regular conditioning and stretching, and for the team to be able to practice formations and transitions more efficiently.  Be a dancer that your team can count on!   Missing a practice prior to a performance/competition will result in being removed from competing in the event.  Missing an entire practice, sitting out at practice, or leaving early effect your overall attendance record. If attendance becomes an issue you may be dismissed from the team.  If you have special circumstances, please contact the coach immediately.  Concerts, hair appointments, vacations, birthday parties, and to catch up on homework are examples of unexcused absences.  Removal from the team will be at the coach’s discretion.
