Dance Team Risk Statement *
Dance Team, as with any sport, has some risk involved. Even though coaches do all they can to minimize these risks, injuries can happen. These injuries can range from bumps, bruises, and over stretched muscles to catastrophic injuries resulting in paralysis and/or death. To minimize these risks follow these guidelines: 1. Never try a turn, jump, leap, kick, or trick without having first been instructed in proper technique. 2. Do not attempt the next level of a trick before mastering the one prior. 3. Prior to dancing, check your surroundings to ensure that the floor is clean, obstacles are clear, and that you will not run into another dancer.4. Participate with regular stretching and conditioning. 5. Wear proper dance shoes that are in good condition. 6. Report EVERY injury -no matter how slight- to the coach immediately.7. Universal Precautions: To minimize the risk of the transmission of the HIV virus, no one shall touch any other dancer that is bleeding or has blood on them, without proper protective equipment. Any dancer that is wearing a costume or clothing that is blood splattered will not be allowed to return to practice or performance/competition until the blood has been cleaned off or has changed.
