This form is required to register to the ECA Rome 2022 conference, together with proof of payment of your registration fee (see below). Only registered participants will be granted access to the event: both this attendance form and the fee payment must be completed before August 15, 2022, whereas early bird fees will be applicable only until July 15, 2022.

Applicable registration fee *

Select the registration fee that applies to you, depending on your current academic status (junior researcher or senior scholar) and the time of your payment (before July 15, 2022, or after): this indicates the amount you must pay before the appropriate deadline (July 15, 2022 for early birds, August 15, 2022 for all others), in order to complete your registration to ECA Rome 2022. All fees include access to all sessions of the event, conference materials, 2 lunches and 5 coffee breaks.

100 € - JUNIOR RESEARCHER, EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION: undergraduates, PhD students and anyone holding a PhD awarded in January 2022 or later; attendance form and fee payment completed before July 15, 2022, at midnight CEST.

150 € - JUNIOR RESEARCHER, LATE REGISTRATION: undergraduates, PhD students and anyone holding a PhD awarded in January 2022 or later; attendance form or fee payment completed in between July 15, 2022, at midnight CEST, and August 15, 2022, at midnight CEST.

200 € - SENIOR SCHOLAR, EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION: faculty members, active or retired, and anyone holding a PhD awarded before January 2022; attendance form and fee payment completed before July 15, 2022, at midnight CEST.

300 € - SENIOR SCHOLAR, LATE REGISTRATION: faculty members, active or retired, and anyone holding a PhD awarded before January 2022; attendance form or fee payment completed in between July 15, 2022, at midnight CEST, and August 15, 2022, at midnight CEST.

Additional social events (with separate fees) *

Check the options for all the events you are interested to attend; if you do not wish to join any event, check the last box. Important notice: it is possible to bring also other people (e.g., partner, family members) to these events, yet in this case you should make sure to (i) pay the relevant fees for these additional people before August 15, 2022, and (ii) indicate clearly for how many additional people you are paying the fee in your bank transfer and in your message to the ECA 2022 Chair.

20 € - CULTURAL TOUR, Sept 29 after dinner: night visit to the Imperial Forums (Forum of Augustus and Forum of Caesar) with multimedia installations and a special audio system with disposable earphones to allow the audience to listen to the music, special effects and the story narrated by a famous Italian science communicator and writer, Piero Angela, in 6 languages (Italian, English, French, Russian, Spanish and Japanese). 40 € - SOCIAL DINNER, Sept 30 around 20:30: final dinner of the conference at a restaurant in the city center, including the proclamation and the official awarding of the 2022 edition of the ECA Frans van Eemeren prize for Best Student Paper; the prize will be delivered by the President of the jury, Prof. Ulrike Hahn. We obtain this information directly from you when you fill in the respective form. The information the provision of which is mandatory is marked with an asterisk in the attached form. For the remaining information, you are free to decide not to provide it; in this case it will not appear in our communications.

Legal basis for the processing of your data
Your data is processed on the basis of your consent (Art. 6.1(a) of the GDPR) which you give by accepting this notice.

Exceptionally, where consent is not an appropriate legal basis, your personal data can also be processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in organising the ECA Rome 2022 conference, "THE COGNITIVE DIMENSION OF SOCIAL ARGUMENTATION" and promoting it, and your legitimate interest in participating in it, and in staying informed about the recent developments in the research community.

For how long do we keep your data?
These are the durations your data will be stored for:

Name, surname: as long as necessary to achieve the purpose of data collection.
E-mail address: as long as necessary to achieve the purpose of data collection.
Affiliation: as long as necessary to achieve the purpose of data collection.

Photographs, audio or video recordings: as long as necessary to achieve the purpose of data collection. After these periods, your data will be deleted or anonymised according to the highest standards.

Will your data be shared with anyone?
Your personal data will not be shared with or disclosed to anyone outside our institution (European Conference on Argumentation, ECA).
Moreover, for the purpose of community building, your name, affiliation and contact details will be communicated to other participants of the ECA Rome 2022 conference, "THE COGNITIVE DIMENSION OF SOCIAL ARGUMENTATION".

Will your data be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA)?
Your data will not be transferred outside the European Economic Area.

Your data will not be used for profiling or automated decision-making purposes.

Your rights with regards to the processing of your data
The GDPR grants you certain rights with regards to the processing of your personal data. These rights include:
