We have received additional funding to address the COVID-19 impacts on our District.  The funding specifically calls for continuous, safe in-person learning and to address the impact of lost learning time.  We would like your input on how best to meet these needs.  Please indicate your support the use of funding on each of the listed items.

FUSHD will commit to funding a Wellness Center on the Fortuna High campus to provide integrated student supports to address barriers to learning through June 2024. Additional services are targeted to support the unique needs of students who are low-income,  students who are English learners, students who are homeless or foster youth, and other underserved students. *
Tutoring through the wellness center provided after school to support student's academic needs. *
Chromebooks and Device Accident Insurance *
Education technology including hardware, software, and connectivity upgrades, replacements, and additions *
Replace failing heaters for improved ventilation and replacement of HVAC filters. *
Added maintenance staff for school facility repairs and improvements *
Generators to maintain power and ventilation during outages *
Modified bell schedule at Fortuna High to accommodate a block schedule with added flex sections to provide expanded learning opportunities to address learning loss and lower class sizes *
Summer School at Fortuna High through Sep 2024 to add expanded learning opportunities for credit recovery *
FUHSD will support the lease of a portable building for East High school's student counselor to have a confidential meeting area to address student mental health needs and provide support for underserved students and students in need through June 2024. *
Added Special Education teacher position at Academy of the Redwoods to provide extra supports to students with disabilities, 504 plans, and unique needs through Sep 2024 *
Academy of the Redwoods after school Math and writing labs *
Academy of the Redwoods Additional Math lab and English sections to address learning loss experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic and offset the reduced offerings from College of the Redwoods due to the pandemic *
