MAST Awards Nomination 2023
Each fall the Massachusetts Association of Science Teachers (MAST) presents the following awards. Please consider nominating a deserving individual. Nominations must be received by September 25, 2023. If you have any questions, contact Laura Carlin at awards@massscienceteach.org. Please read the list of awards and the qualifications below. You must submit a new version of this form for each candidate you wish to nominate. You may submit this form as many times as you like.  You do not need to be a member to nominate an educator but some awards do require membership.  To become a member please visit https://massscienceteach.org/Join-us

Dawn Sather Exemplary New Teacher Award
1. Membership in MAST is not a requirement
2. In the first 3 years of the teaching profession and currently teaching science
3. Noticed for remarkable achievement, accomplishment, and promise as a science educator

Joann Blum Inspiration in Environmental Education Award
This award honors the memory of Joann Blum, an outstanding and inspirational science teacher who encouraged her students and her colleagues to embrace the outdoor environment.
1. The recipient should be a K-8 teacher who inspires students to see science in the natural world around them.
2. Membership in MAST is not a requirement
3. The recipient will receive recognition at the annual MAST Awards banquet and one year's complimentary membership in MAST (new or renewal).

Russell P. Stanhope Distinguished Friend of Science Award
1. Non-member of MAST, but MAST membership does not disqualify applicant
2. Works with science educators in Massachusetts
3. High visibility in science education
4. Promotes being a “friend” to the science community and focuses collaboration between the science industry and education fields in his/her/their mission

County Science Educator of the Year Awards
1. Current member of MAST
2. Past history of being an active, contributing member of national, state, and/or local science teacher organizations.
3. Provides a leadership role in promoting and advancing the cause of quality science education among his/her peers.
4. Actively promotes and advances the cause of quality science education among students in the schools.

MAST State Science Educator of the Year
1. Current member of MAST
2. Previous MAST County Educator of the Year Award winner (Use this LIST!!! https://tinyurl.com/MASTCountyAwards 
Red font indicates that teacher already won State Science Educator of the Year.  If you do not see the teacher's name that you would like to nominate on this list, please consider nominating them for a County Science Educator of the Year award (see above).
3. Active or retired teacher
4. Continuous significant accomplishments in science education, locally, and statewide
5. Role model in science education for other educators
