AP Calculus AB Summer Assignment
For this summer assignment, you will be completing a survey/scavenger hunt of things that I need to know or need you to know before the class starts. This needs to be completed before you get to class the first day of school.

I look forward to getting to know more about you, and encourage you to email me at karliorr@gmail.com if you have any questions or need any support with any of these items!

Here's to all 5's on the AP test!

Part of my expectations of you this year will be for you to work on Khan Academy on any topics you need to practice. This allows everyone to review skills they personally need instead of assigning review to everyone. Khan Academy partners with College Board, so every question on there is made by the same people who make the AP test! Go to khanacademy.org/coaches and type in: TNEU3B7Y *
You know your own personal experience this year. If you need to practice some of the things from this year from Pre-Calculus, please use some time this summer. Some particular areas of focus: making sure you can factor quadratics quickly and easily, understanding trig functions and the unit circle, and composite functions. For BC, you may want to review sequences and series as well. *
Go to https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/courses/ap-calculus-ab/assessment to find the answer to the next couple questions: How many multiple choice questions can you use a calculator for? *
How many free response questions are there all together? *
How long do you have to spend on the free response non-calculator questions? *
I recommend that you use a TI-84 Plus calculator in my class. It is the one I am most familiar with and can help you with best (the color addition is nice - it helps when you have to graph more than one thing - but not necessary if the price difference is large). Older versions work, and you can definitely buy a used one...but check to see if they have "math type" - this mode makes a lot of Calculus stuff easier. If you buy a Casio, you are on your own - so don't!! *
List the four things you will need to do with your calculator during the AP test (this link will help you find them): https://apstudent.collegeboard.org/apcourse/ap-calculus-ab/calculator-policy *
Why are you taking this class? (Honest answers make me happy :)) *
