Clear selection
1. The area of most fire damage always corresponds with the area of origin. *
2. Fire patterns in the area of possible ventilation openings may provide insight as to whether or not that vent was open or closed during the fire event.   *
3. Post-flashover compartment fires can be characterized by nearly uniform flaming conditions present throughout the entire compartment. *
4. Ventilation plays a critical role in understanding the damages associated with a post-flashover fire. *
5. Fire patterns associated with the origin of a fire are always destroyed by the rapid transition of fire growth commonly referred to as flashover.   *
6. Open-walled flashover cell demonstrations may mislead one to believe that the post-flashover fire environment in all compartment fires is characterized by nearly uniform, wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling, flaming fire conditions. *
7. HVAC vents may supply fresh air to an oxygen-deficient, post-flashover fire environment and result in localized fire patterns. *
8. As a compartment fire transitions through flashover, flaming fire conditions will have a tendency to migrate to areas associated with vents that supply fresh air.   *
9. Furnishings may not necessarily exhibit signs of differential damage that are useful to determine the origin of a fire. *
10. Continued exposure to post-flashover fire conditions may mask or obliterate fire damage patterns associated with the origin of a fire. *
