WPI-GWU Nominations Form
Fill this out to nominate yourself or someone else for an elected position within the grad union.

Rolling nominations are currently open. You can nominate yourself or others for any open position as long as all nominees are members of the union. See all positions here.  Members can be nominated for only one position on the Steering Committee or Joint Council at a time. However, members can be nominated for a stewardship as well as to a position on the Steering to Joint Councils simultaneously. All positions will be held for one year.

Please provide your WPI email so we can confirm you're an eligible member of our union.

Steward
Stewards are the backbone of the union and help their coworkers understand their contract rights, organize new members, and solicit members feedback on how best to improve our workplace. We aim to elect at least one steward from every department/program, with larger departments having more than one. Stewards will take a short contract training and will meet semi-regularly as part of the Assembly of Stewards to coordinate solutions to workplace issues. Stewards are elected by the members of their department/program
Steering Committee Officers
Between General Membership Meetings, our Steering Committee is responsible for running the day-to-day business of the union and interfacing with WPI management. Steering Committee Officers are elected by all union members and no person may hold more than one of these positions

Co-Chairs (2) - Responsible for creating the agenda for Steering Committee meetings and facilitating Steering Committee meetings and General Membership Meetings

Recording Secretary (1) - Records attendance at Steering Committee and count of attendees at General Membership Meetings, takes meeting minutes, handles notification of meetings

Treasurer (1) - Manages unit spending, dues and fees items, and works with Joint Council representatives regarding considerations for the Local budget. Serves on the Local 2322 Finance Committee

Head Steward (1) - Contract expert who manages workplace grievances and implementation issues to enforce the terms of our contract. Maintains the union database and facilitates meetings of the Assembly of Stewards

Joint Council Representative - WPI-GWU is one of many workplaces organized into UAW Local 2322. As such we get to send several representatives to the Local 2322 Joint Council which meets once per month to coordinate between workplaces, manage the Local's budget and more. Joint Council Representatives automatically serve on the Steering Committees to better connect GWU to the Local and are elected by all union members
