December 2021 Singing Events at St Giles'
December will (hopefully) be an exciting time for singing at St Giles'!

The 'official' Camberwell Community Choir event will be open-air carols, sung outside St Giles' Church on Tuesday 21st December at 7.30pm. This is a replacement for our annual 'Carols round Camberwell' event which normally involves us singing in busy and crowded pubs - obviously we've had to tweak our plans this year.

But there's other opportunities below that you would be very welcome to join in with. Please do share this form with musical friends and family if you think that they may be interested in joining us. All help would be greatly appreciated.

So that we can decide on repertoire and rehearse it in time, the deadline for submission is Friday 3rd of December. Late arrivals are still always welcome as usual!

Best Wishes,

Ashley Valentine

15/12/21: Uden's Christmas & Remembrance Service, 7.30pm
On Wednesday 15th December, Udens Funeral Directors are holding a Christmas & Remembrance service at St Giles' for people that have lost loved ones recently. They've asked if a small choir could sing 'Away in a manger' and lead congregational carols. It's a very gentle event and should last around an hour. We'll have a short rehearsal around 7pm in the choir vestry to prepare. Children in the choir are welcome and we can pay them a £5 singing fee with some sweeties as a small thank you.

19/12/21: St Giles' Carol Service, 6pm
On Sunday 19th December, St Giles' will hold a tradition carol service. It will be much simpler than other years and we'll aim to sing some 'easy' 4-part carols really well. We'll have a rehearsal in advance at 7.30pm on Thursday 16th December - but this is not compulsory. On the day, we'll have a rehearsal at 3.30pm with a little break, followed by the service at 6pm. The service will last an hour.

21/12/21 Open-Air Carols outside St Giles', 7.30pm
On Tuesday 21st December, we'll be holding an outside carol singalong event. Details TBC, but it should be fun and will probably involve moving the piano to the porch and staying as warm/dry as possible as we sing outside! It should last around 45 mins and we'll aim to make our way to a pub afterwards, all being well!

24/12/21 Christmas Eve events at St Giles'
On Christmas Eve at St Giles', there will be a Christingle Service, 'Carols on the Merry Organ' and Midnight Mass. You will probably be very busy or away, but if you / your family / friends are around and want to know more, please let me know.
