Spanish Interpretation Registration for Children's Legal Center Asylum Clinic Day - Friday, November 3, 2023
IMPORTANT: Please complete the form ONLY if you are fluent in Spanish and not a law student/legal professional. If you are a law student/legal professional, even if you are fluent in Spanish, please NO NOT complete this form. 

Location of Event: Chicago-Kent College of Law, 565 W. Adams, Chicago, IL

Day of Event

8:45 am - 9:15 am: Law Student Volunteers arrive and check in. LawLogix accounts created.

9:00am - 9:15 am: Client and Interpreter check in

9:15 am - 10:30 am:  Volunteer attorneys training and questions. Then to room assignments.

9:15 am - 10:30 am: Clients receive KYR presentation and watch recorded videos on what you need to prove to get asylum and the process and Jennifer completes presentation of the day's events.

10:30 am - 12 pm: Clients to find room assignments and Volunteers meet with clients to complete pages of I-589. Group A will complete p. 1-4 and Group B will complete p. 5-8. Click "Save and Close" in the form and then submit the form to have approval from CLC staff.

12:00 pm - 12:15 pm: break 

12:15 pm - 2:45 pm:  Volunteers meet with clients to complete pages of I-589. Group A will complete p. 5-8 and Group B will complete p. 1-4. Click "Save and Close" in the form and then submit the form to have approval from CLC staff.

2:45 pm - 3:15 pm:  CLC staff review I-589 to approve. Client and Volunteers bathroom/lunch break

3:15 pm - 4:00 pm: Volunteers to fix any changes needed, print I-589 and have clients sign the I-589. Volunteers to turn in I-589 AND G-28 (if applicable) to CLC staff and receive letters to give clients to allow them to leave.

4:00 pm - 4:30 pm:  CLC closing remarks.
