The Society for the Anthropology of Religion (SAR) invites submissions for the 2024 Clifford Geertz Prize in the Anthropology of Religion. Prospective applicants can read the full description of the prize, a list of previous winning entries, and the current call for submissions at our website. 

Please answer all required questions marked with an asterisk. Please note that this year we have introduced a submission fee of $25 for non-SAR members (members will not be asked to pay the fee).  This fee is waived for those based outside the Global North and for those that are contingently employed.

After you have completed the form, please arrange for copies of the book to be sent to all members of the Geertz Prize Committee.  Please contact Naomi Haynes (Naomi.Haynes@ed.ac.uk) to request addresses.  Books must be submitted in hard copy to be considered.  The committee will not accept electronic submissions.
