Practice Schedule *

The Practice Schedule is subject to change. We share the rink with the Middlebury College Hockey teams who have first pick at rink times. The Schedule will be posted on the Figureskating Club website via a Google calendar. The calendar will be updated as soon as we know of changes. Please link the google calendar to your family calendar so you see updates right away.

Ice Show *

The Middlebury College Winter Carnival Ice Show will be on Saturday, February 29 and Sunday, March 1, 2020. There will be mandatory dress and tech rehearsals the week prior to the show. We are dependent on the Hockey teams to give up ice time for those rehearsals so we often do not know until a few days ahead of time when they are. Please note, participation in the show is optional, especially first timers are sometimes worried about the show. Many, in the end, get swapped away by the excitement, participate, and participate every year there after.

Parent Volunteers *

The Figureskating Club only exists thanks to parents volunteering. All parents are called upon to volunteer in some way for the show. Please choose a volunteer position below. Volunteer position descriptions are posted on the website. You will also receive detailed information on what is needed for your position once you have signed up. Depending on what people choose, you might be asked to change your position. Preparing for the show begins in late December/January.

December - February: buy costumes for your child's group (with help from coach)

January - March: hire videographer and babysit during show and after show

January: poster designer

Before show: organize concession stand

Before dress rehearsal and show: help with make up for younger groups

During rehearsals and show: organize and store costumes

During rehearsals and after show: paper and lights coordinator

Parking and Entrance *

Skater families may park in the lot behind Kenyon Arena in the visitor spots. Skaters and their families should enter through the back entrance of the sports complex near the squash courts. Once in the building, stay on the same level and go through the doors behind the stairs to the skate changing room.

We are thankful to the College for their generosity in allowing our skaters to practice in their outstanding facility. Please help ensure that we continue to be welcome by exhibiting appropriate behavior and respect for all rules set forth by the College and the coaches. Middlebury Sole Responsibility *

I am not relying on Middlebury to supervise or control my child's participation in the Sports Activity, or to warn me of every possible danger associated with it. I understand I am solely responsible for assessing my child's skills and abilities to participate safely in the Sports Activity. Knowing the dangers, hazards and risks and in consideration for being allowed to participate, on behalf of myself, my family, estate, heirs, executors, administrators and assignees, I hereby accept all dangers, hazards and risks that may result from my child's participation in this Sports Activity and I hereby release Middlebury, its employees and agents from any and all claims, suits and expenses for loss of or damage to my property and for any illness or injury to me, including my child's death, that may result from or occur during my child's participation in the Sports Activity, whether caused by the negligence of Middlebury, its employees or agents, or otherwise, to the fullest extent allowed by law.
