The View from the Middle Survey
Mid-career museum professionals (MCPs) are the “middle child” of today’s work-force, in between emerging museum professionals and senior managers and directors. This group deals with unique challenges, including work-life balance, precarious and contract work (beyond entry-level), managing up and managing down simultaneously, stagnancy or boredom, lack of career development resources, among many others.

Based on our experience as mid-career professionals and our conversations with many others at the same point in their museum career, we’ve identified the need for a forum for MCPs to connect and share their thoughts in a meaningful way, develop a constituency to represent and advocate for MCPs as well as identify ways in which the OMA/other organizations can be an ally for this majority of museum workers.

This survey is about 20 questions long and shouldn't take more than ten minutes to complete.

If you are able to attend the OMA 2020 conference - here is the link to our talk. We anticipate continuing this discussion beyond the OMA webinar, so be sure to include your contact information at the end of this form if you would like to continue to be a part of the conversation.
