The Westchester Chess Club is open to all WE students K-5, appealing to players at all skill levels, both socially and competitively. The club will meet on Tuesday mornings at 7:40am in the gymnasium, beginning on September 17 and running through April. Please register your child for the 2019-20 WE Chess Club by filling out the form below.
Membership to the Chess Club is free, thanks to generous support of the Westchester PTO. Students may join us any Tuesday morning and are not required to attend every meeting; new members may register and join at any time throughout the year.
Our chess club is very large and popular, and parents are as big a resource as our players. You are both welcome and needed to keep our community growing, and the chess club asks that a parent/caregiver visit just one of our meetings as volunteer. Please consider: With so many members, if one parent volunteers for just one hour, the Westchester chess club can remain free and open to every student for the entire school year.

The chess team is designed as an introduction to competitive chess, including tournament rules and preparation, playing with clocks, and a focus on individual study and steady improvement. Our players have a wide range of skill but share a clear enthusiasm for chess.
