As part of the COST Action 18213 – Rural NEET Youth Network (RNYN), we open a CALL FOR MENTEES. This mentoring program strictly connects with the actions of the CA 18213, which started in October 2019 and that will be completed in October 2023. This Action encompasses the creation of a European-led multidisciplinary network from countries showing higher NEET youth rates in rural areas.
The mentoring programme aims to support Early Career Investigators (ECI), i.e. researchers up to 8 years after their PhD completion) as well as PhD students in developing research proposals.

Rural Youth Participation

Identify the different types of NEETs, their distribution in the different contexts and type of interventions that each of these groups need to exit from the NEET status

Improve knowledge on the PES functions and on their effective capacities to help young people in job search

Create a privileged communication channel with PES, finalized to a regular information exchange on NEET needs, characteristics, and to directly communicate with them

Identify the actions which can help in early school leaving prevention, because early school leavers are among the most at risk of becoming NEET

Study the different dynamics characterizing NEETs in rural and urban areas

Stimulate young researchers to apply for projects in studying NEETs and the possible actions to improve their employability

Participation and inclusion of rural youth in policy dialogue, design and implementation of interventions and programs, particularly those related to young people nor in education nor in employment (NEETs).

Youth participation and rural development (e.g., agriculture, forests, social economy).

Young people's engagement with public participation processes, collective action and/or social movements in rural areas.

Young people's engagement with climate change, including aspects related to youth empowerment to participate in environmental action.

Opportunities and challenges of digitalization and innovation and youth participation.

Gender and migration dimensions of youth participation in rural areas and intersection with other structural inequalities.
