Committees

Of the following committees, please select those which you are interested in joining:

Scholarships: This committee is dedicated to managing the application, awarding, and recognition of scholarship recipients. All members are encouraged to participate in this committee for at least one year to gain first hand experience about the impact our chapter is making on young women in our community.

Communications/Public Relations: This committee is focused on increasing awareness of our chapter’s happenings locally and regionally.

Finance: This committee is focused on stewarding our chapter's funds for the greatest impact.

Membership: This committee is focused on the recruitment and engagement of chapter members.

Directory: This committee is dedicated to the creation and maintenance of our chapter directory.

Torch Newsletter Production/Editing: This committee is dedicated to creating the monthly Torch Newsletter for distribution to all members.

Fundraising/Ways and Means: This committee is focused on engaging members and other donors to support the work of our chapter to support women in our community.

Strategic Planning: This committee is dedicated to the creation and implementation of our chapter's strategic plan, and works with all other committees to ensure benchmarks and goals are being met.

Public Policy: This committee is dedicated to informing our chapter on key legislation on the local and state level with AAUW National.

Book Group(s): There are two book groups within our chapter.

Bridge

Great Decisions: This group participates in the largest World Affairs discussion group, Great Decisions.

Guided Nature Excursions: This group gets together in and around Fort Myers to experience the beauty of the Gulf Coast, and is led by Jemetta Hunt. Bring your own camera!

Hand and Foot

Mahjong

Tools for Advocacy: This group develops tools for chapter members to utilize for advocacy at the local and state level
