'Komatik' cool box feedback.
Hi everyone. This is Komatik 42.

Name inspiration- A Komatik (qamutik) is an Inuit dog sled, used to carry goods and food over long distances on harsh, icey terrain.

This is part of my final project at university, so I would really appreciate some feedback on the final design with any positives or negatives you can see. I can then use this feedback to write about future iterations and evaluate on the design's success.

The concept was based around enhancing the outdoor experience by providing raised table surfaces integrated into a coolbox, useful for food prep, eating with friends and even games. Perfect for camping, visiting the beach or just enjoying some al fresco cooking and picnics.

It has smooth lacquered cork veneer folding tables. They can be easily deployed by simply pulling them outwards and overcoming the magnets holding them in place. Stainless steel locking brackets then support the side tables, which can be easily stowed by pressing two release buttons underneath.

A bamboo chopping board is also recessed into the smaller lid. The two top surfaces are held down with magnets and are easily removed. The main body is roto molded 50% recycled Polyethelene. The wheels are solid PU foam, so are puncture resistant. The ends of the handle bar double as bottle openers, and a light is found on the main lid to help you find things at night. Dry weight is 14.9kg, comparable to the 'YETI tundra Haul' 45 at 14.5kg.

Dimesions are 60cm LONG , 52cm WIDE and 47cm TALL. 42 quarts internal volume, capable of carrying 62 330ml cans without ice, and an estimated 35 with adequate space for ice.

Two seperately insulated compartments with drains allows for storing of different food items, even at different temperatures. Perhaps you don't want your steaks to be ice cold when you go to cook them, or have meat juices swimming around your drinks.

Please write some POSITIVES and NEGATIVES below. Write as little or as much you like.

I will do a follow up survey going through different colour options where you can choose your favourites.

RRP would be around £350.

-Based on material and component cost, and comparing to other high end coolers on the market, i.e 'YETI Tundra Haul' priced at £300 without any of these advanced features.

Thank you for answering my Survey! The feedback is really appreciated.

A full scale model is also being made. The CNC's foam will be covered with fibreglass, sanded smooth and then gel coated to represent the finished product for further testing.
