Have your 11th grade students join us for an inspiring afternoon aboard Battleship IOWA in remembrance of Vice Admiral Gravely (1922 - 2004).  Vice Admiral Gravely was a true trail blazer who became the first African American commander, captain, rear admiral, and vice admiral of the U.S Navy before retiring.

Participating students will receive a free box lunch and beverage they can enjoy while listening to a panel of diverse individuals discuss their inspirations and motivations to break through societal barriers and find success.  The panel will be moderated by Tanya Acker, co-host of CBS' Hot Bench and host of The Tanya Acker Show podcast, and will include a Q&A session during which students may directly engage the panel speakers. At the end of the event, details concerning the 2024 Gravely Scholarship Essay Contest will be announced.

A total of 200 seats are available at this event and will be granted on a first come, first served basis. School representatives must complete the following form to secure their seats. It is important to note that each group will be responsible for providing their own buses to and from the event.  Tiffany Ellerbeck, Director of Public Programming at Battleship IOWA, will contact all submissions to confirm availability of seats.
