AMBUSH NATION- School spirit student section for events throughout the school year.

ANIME CLUB (Mrs. Lambert Rm C3) This group meets to discuss, how and promote the Japanese hand-drawn art work and/or computer animation known as anime. Fun and exciting group meetings!

ART CLUB ( Mrs. G. Taylor Rm B19) The Art Club promotes students' creativity and appreciation of the arts. The Art Club participates in cultural events within the school and community.

ART NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY ( Mrs. Ratliff Rm B17) Membership in this organization is based upon art scholarship, service, adn character. Students show an outstanding ability in art and exemplify a dedicated spirit to the pursuit of art.

BETA Club (Mrs. Lancaster Rm 200) Members are committed to recognizing and promoting high academic achievement, reparding and nurturing worthy character, fostering leadership skills, and encouraging service to others. Members complete service projects within our school and community.

CHORUS

CIVIL RIGHTS CLUB (Mr. Wasinger Rm B9) This group offers a place where students can gather to participate in open communication about social and political equality/inequality, accuracy, and justice.

DEBATE (VHSL ACTIVITY) Essentially Debate is an argument with rules. Two teams are presented with a resolution or topic, and each team has a set period of time to prepare an argument that is judged by a panel.

DECA ( Mrs Smith Rm C2, Mrs. Khoshaba Rm C18, Ms. Blow Rm C18) Distributive Education Clubs of America is an organization for students enrolled in the EFE or Marketing program.

DIAMONDS IN THE MAKING (Mrs. Pierce Rm 108) Diamonds in the Making is a mentoring organization created to inspire and empower the lives of young ladies.

DRAMA CLUB (Ms DeGutis Rm P9-B)- This Organization models itself after most professional theater companies. Students perform shows throughout the year and at competition.

EDUCATORS RISING (Mrs. Pollard Rom B8) This club provides students interested in the teaching profession with opportunities to foucs on the many facets of career preparation and the benefits of a teaching career.

EFE (Mr. Staggs Rm C7, Mrs. Khoshaba Rm C13) Education for Employment is designed to help students develop skills necessary to succeed in both the school and work community.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION CLUB (Mrs. Fittro Rom D13) The rol of the Ecology CLub is to foster interest in teh environment. Students play an active role in beautification projects at OSH and in preservation projects worldwide.

ESPORTS(TBD) - Competition between schools through online gaming platforms. Esports takes video gaming to another level.

FCCLA (Mrs. A. Green Rm D5) Family and Community Career leaders of America is a club that assists students with their roles in society through the areas of personal growth, family life, vocational preparation, and community involvement.

FORENSICS (VHSL ACTIVITY) (Ms. Owens Rm D20) The team works to develop its members' abilities in several areas related to public speaking. Members compete in various competitions in the Tidewater area.

FRENCH CLUB (Madame Devoe Rm D12) This club extends the focus of the French language beyond the classroom. During club meetings, students further explore the French culture, society, and language.

GAY-STRAIGHT ALLIANCE (TBD) The GSA provides a place for all students to discuss and promote tolerance within our school and community.

INTERACT CLUB ( TBD) Interact is a Rotary- sponsored service club. The program gives students the opportunity to participate in service to their community while developing leadership skills.

KEY CLUB

LITERARY MAGAZINE (Ms. Dooley Rm 210) Members of this group showcase their prose, short stories, poetry, and artwork in this publication that is managed by the student artist. Any student is invited to submit a piece for the magazine.

MARCHING BAND/COLOR GUARD

MATH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY ( Mrs. Griffin P2) This group is comprised of students with a 3.3 cumulative GPA in Math Courses. Membership is based on an application process and acceptance by faculty.

MEN OF STANDARDS (Mr. Anderson Rm F7, Mr. Livingston Rm A18, Mr. Reeves Rm D27, Mr. Morgan Rm D23, Mr. Lewis) This organization will help young male students become active members of the school and comunity. Members will become positive role models and leaders for Oscar Smith.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS (Mrs. Mitchell Rm B10) The Model UN is an academic club that invovles simulations of issues mediation by United Nations. Knowledge of and interest in history and current events is helpful.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY (Mrs. Grace Rm F5) This organization is comprised of students with a 3.5 overall GPA who are invited to apply in recognition to their individual accomplishments in scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Monthly meetings are held.

OPERATION SMILE (Mrs. San Andres Rm D14) This group will focus on advocacy, education, leadership, and service. The organization will promote opportunities for its members to volunteer in various ways in fundraising projects that will help children in need of cleft palate surgeries.

ORCHESTRA

"TIGER TIMES" NEWSPAPER (VHSL ACTIVITY)(Mr. Welty Rm C4) The newspaper is produced by students who have an interest in reporting on school events while also learning about the newspaper production process.

SCHOLASTIC BOWL (VHSL ACTIVITY) (Mrs. Foss Rm E2) The team competes in meets with the local high schools in which knowledge of all academic subjects and current events are tested.

SCIENCE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY (Ms. Halus Rm F7,F5 ) Students with an interest in science and its rapid changes can apply to join this honor society. A 3.5 cumulative GPA in Science course is the basic requirement. Areas of Service and interest will also be considered.

STUDENT COUNCIL ASSOCIATION (SCA) (Mrs. Salmon Rm A4) The SCA is an inegral part of student life at OSH. Students in all grades can apply to join the at-large SCA at specified times of the year. The organization coordinates dances, homecoming activities, spirit activities, teacher appreciation activties, student recognition, and many service oriented projects.

SPANISH CLUB (Senora Becker Rm D16) This club is designed to extend the focus of foreign langague beyond teh classroom by learning about the culture and society of Spanish speaking countries.

STAR DANCERS (Ms. Anderson Rm 105) Tryouts are held to obtain members. Members of the team learn dance routines that they perform at various school functions, including athletic events.

STUDENT 2 STUDENT (Ms. Barringer Guidance) The S2S organization is sponsored by the Military Child Education Coalition. Student members provide information to all new students and helps them transition to the school.

UNICEF (Ms. McMillin Rm D18) This organization conducts various projects that benefits the UNICEF organization which works to help children all around the world seek safe shelter, improve nutrition, gain protection from disasters and conflicts, and attain equality.

YOUNG LIFE (Mr. Reeves Rm D27) Young Life provides a place for fellowship for all students. Through a fun setting consisting of games, music and skits students discuss and considere life issues. Stuetns of all religious affilations are welcome and encouraged to attend.

YOUNG LIFE CAPERNAUM (Ms. Gause- gym) This group provides students with mental and physical disabilities a chance to experience fun, develop fulfilling friendships and to challenge their limits while building self-esteem throughiteracting with mentor students.

YOUTH MISSION UNITY CLUB (Mr. Anderson) This group brings students together to develop teams that blend talent, cultural diversity, and ideas to help foster unity.
