A brief description of our tours:

Though every trip has a little bit of everything, no tour is the same as any other, so you can tailor your interests and choose which of our immersions best suits your desired experience!

Most of our trips are 8-nights/ 8-days and cost $2500 per person, most expenses included**. For a full run-down of each of the events, please read the detailed descriptions on our website The Fungivore in the Tours Sections.

In addition, in 2023 we will be making room to attend the many burgeoning Mushroom Fairs that are popping up all over Oaxaca, in the mountain towns in the the Sierra Norte, Sierra Sur and La Mixteca (the Sierra Occidental). Each of these experiences has been a magical journey into the mycology of Oaxaca, and it would be a shame to have you here, and not be able to attend the local mycofestival!

ALL of our tours feature a knowledgeable mycologist and local nature guides, and we emphasize information exchange with the traditional mushroom knowledge holding indigenous cultures with whom we partner.

No matter which tour you decide to join, we promise you will be blown away by what you see and do!

**Once you get yourself to our designated Hotel for our first night in Oaxaca City, all meals, lodging, tours, activities, and workshops are included. Alcohol (during meals or otherwise), souvenirs, and optional activities such as sweat lodge or horseback riding are not included.

Travel to Oaxaca City is not included. Please make travel arrangements to be able to join us for the beginning of your trip. We are happy to advise on the most affordable flight options when the time comes if you would like some assistance... with a little pre-planning and know-how, it is possible to find price differences of several hundred dollars for flights.

We are currently accepting applications for the first four of the trips we have planned (MycoTour #5 Chiapas is on deck for October). If you have not already, please visit TheFungivore.com to see the details about each trip. To make our trips more flexible and allow for the possibility of Mushroom Festivals during the trip, we have scheduled our time Wed-Thur for most trips. If ALL participants agree to to change the schedule to accommodate a local festival, we will have some flexibility to make that happen.

*Lastly, The Fungivore will be in Oregon/Washington in November 2023 for mushroom season, and we are planning on having the sequel to our successful Mycophagy Camp 2021! The pricing and requirements for this event will be different than the rest, but if you are interested in learning more, please let us know below!

Do you agree that you will bring (at least) two COVID rapid tests, and agree to use them before (Wednesday) and during (Saturday) our trip to maintain the health and safety of our other guests, ourselves and our hosts?

Do you have any allergies, especially acute reactions (bee stings etc.)? Are you taking any medication that the group leaders should be aware of? Do you use an EpiPen or need any special medical attention?

We will have a basic first aid kit with us for our adventures (benedryl, asprin, burn kit, etc.), but if you require anything specific, please be prepared to bring that with you, as the pharmacies here may or may not have what you need.

Do you have any dietary restrictions or food issues we should be aware of? *
Do you have any physical impairments that might limit your ability to participate in hikes or forays? For example, do you get car sickness easily?

Please note that our foray days are at 7500ft above sea level and higher (up to 10,500ft), and that Oaxaca City and Central Valleys are at about 5000ft elevation. (Our July MyComida trip, for example, will be 6 days straight in the mountains about 8000ft, so please be aware of your own abilities, as well as those of anyone you might travel with.)

All accommodations are double occupancy with the option of one or two beds.  Are you traveling with anyone else that you would not want to bunk without (partner, spouse, research assistant, whatever). Please indicate YES/NO and if YES, name them below, as well as if you need ONE or TWO beds in your room.

If you would like to have your own room, we have a $350 surcharge to book extra spaces. Please let us know if you prefer this option over being assigned a roommate.

EACH person must fill out this questionnaire to be eligible to come. If you intend on traveling with children, please indicate that here. We do offer discounts for children, and do not recommend traveling with kids under 12 years old. Payments* for the trip must be made in full, and include our NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT of $500 which helps us secure accommodations, reserve transportation, book restaurants, and secure the tour.

If you make this payment commitment, your deposit will be returned to you only on one of two conditions: the trip is completely canceled (all monies will be returned), or you successfuly arrange for someone else to take your place.

Refunds for later cancellations will be returned on the following schedule:

120+ days before the start of the trip, 80% refund (total minus deposit);
90-120 days before, 60% refund (total minus $1000);
60-90 days before, 40% refund (total minus $1500);
30-60 days before, 20% refund (total minus $2000);
30 days before, no refund available
