Fridays from 4:00 - 5:00 pm, starting June 26th
Zoom:
https://ucla.zoom.us/j/91119324674 In an effort to take action to combat structural racism, CEILS will be holding a summer Anti-Racist discussion group. We will discuss anti-racist literature, videos, podcasts and articles with the goal of educating ourselves. An important factor in this work is being aware of our identities. We acknowledge that this discussion is organized by white women. We also invite anyone interested in educating themselves on race to join in this conversation.
This is a safe, brave space, in which we will discuss the systematic structures of racism and the work we can do individually and as a community to dismantle them by using the lessons learned in each session. Come as often or as rarely as you like.
We are excited to learn more from the experts and from each other by engaging in meaningful dialogue aimed to create equitable learning environments.
June 26th- White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack (Note: this will hopefully be the only text by a White person)
July 3rd- (Holiday)
July 10th- Understanding Anti-Racist Policies and Ideas: 6 ways to be antiracist, because being 'not racist' isn't enough (A summary of the defining book, How To Be An Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi)

The CEILS Team
