Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Murrays Bay Primary School is dedicated to giving our students innovative and creative opportunities to learn. We understand that we learn in many different ways and from many different people. During Term 3 our entire school will be participating in different passion projects for an entire week. Your child has chosen their passion and will participate in a week of learning and growing in their chosen area. This is a fantastic opportunity for different ages of students to work together and learn from each other, while possibly working with different teachers too!
 
Your child has chosen Skateboarding, Scootering and Biking as their Passion Project and will participate in a 3 day, hands on learning experience from Tuesday, 31 August - Thursday, 2 September. This is a great opportunity for different students to work together and learn from each other while having fun!

Mr Kevin Rushton and Mr Matty Bowman

Here are a few things that will be happening:
- Four sessions of skateboard tuition split over Tuesday and Wednesday run by Young Guns Skate School covering balance, stance, safety grinds, ollies and more.
- Video Filming and Production sessions
- Skate and bike design
- Two Mountain bike/Skate/Scooter sessions (equipment depending)
- Visit to Orewa Skate Park and Bike Track

Students will need to bring the following each day:
School sports uniform
Backpack
Morning Tea and Lunch
Water
Hat
Helmet (students will not be able to participate without one)
Knee and elbow guards (not compulsory but recommended)
Sunblock
Skateboard, Scooter or Bike (please make sure that your child’s equipment is in working condition or they will not be able to participate)


COST
The cost for the 3 days is $40.00. This MUST be paid before Friday, 27 August 2021.
This will cover the cost for transport and skateboard tuition from Young Guns Skate School. .

Payment
Online Payment is preferred.
Using your child's name, Year Level and Teachers Initials & the chosen Passion Project as reference
(eg, John Smith, Y1 CA, Skateboard).

Additionally we will require parent helpers for the lessons at school in the afternoon on Tuesday and Wednesday and to accompany the group to Orewa Skate Park on Thursday, 02 September. If you are available please indicate on the form below.
