Operational Area Mutual-Aid Assistance
Santa Barbara County is actively responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a fluid situation requiring adjustments of work schedules, public services, and shelter in home orders throughout the state. As we navigate through this ever-changing situation, Santa Barbara County has a need to fill essential positions. As a member of the public sector, you may be a designated Disaster Service Worker (DSW) through the State of California. We are all in this together and we are looking to our partner agencies that have the ability to provide mutual aid support (including staffing) in response to COVID-19.

We are seeking mutual aid support as our community rallies together to get through this unprecedented outbreak. If you are interested in supporting response efforts in Santa Barbara County, through mutual aid, please thoroughly complete this registration form.

Santa Barbara County will be reviewing all applications and responding to all applicants that can be assigned to a position in support of ongoing efforts. This would be a temporary assignment based on the needs of Santa Barbara County for essential work during the outbreak. Positions may include assisting with the call center, assisting with sheltering operations, supporting recovery efforts, managing information through a variety of medium, and more based on need.
Mutual aid is an agreement where you may still get paid by your organization for the hours you spend responding to the incident. It is recommended that you reach out to your supervisor and review their policy prior to assuming you will be paid. If your organization does not provide mutual aid opportunities, you are welcome to apply as a volunteer.
